HBO Max and A24 are developing a comedy pilot from Megan Stalter. According to Variety, Church Girls is a half-hour comedy that follows Beth Parker (Stalter), a “20-year-old Christian lesbian as she wrestles with her sexuality and faith in God, while entering adulthood in suburban Ohio”.

The series will be based on Stalter’s own experiences. Since 2021, the star has received acclaim for her role in HBO Max’s comedy Hacks, which follows a legendary comedian (Jean Smart) as she reluctantly teams up with a Gen-Z writer (Hannah Einbinder) to revive her career.
