Beyoncé has shared the cover for her highly-anticipated sixth studio album Renaissance. Seemingly inspired by John Collier’s 19th century painting Lady Godiva and Bianca Jagger’s iconic birthday party at Studio 54, the artwork sees the Grammy Award winner seated atop a glowing horse.

In a statement, Beyoncé said the creative process allowed her a “place to dream and to find escape during a scary time for the world”. “It allowed me to feel free and adventurous in a time when little else was moving.

My intention was to create a safe place, a place without judgment. A place to be free of perfectionism and overthinking,” said the star. “A place to scream, release, feel freedom.
