The tenth annual Feather Awards, celebrating LGBTQI+ culture in all its colour and vigour, took place at the Johannesburg City Hall on Thursday, 15 November. The glitzy ceremony was hosted by Somizi Mhlongo – his grand entrance is sure to be remembered for years to come – and saw, among others, AKA, Sjava and Yaya Mavundla walk away with accolades.

The GaySA Radio Team were on the edge of our seats for most of the evening, though, eagerly awaiting the announcement of the Media Award of the Year, the category in which we were nominated. This category is different from the other awards of the evening, due to the winner being chosen by means of a public vote.

We are extremely proud and humbled to announce that you chose GaySA Radio as the media outlet of the year, and our gratitude has no bounds. This award is encouraging and very special.

We’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone that voted in the run-up to the Feather Awards. We are committed to keep bringing you LGBTQI+ content that is daring, honest and entertaining. Because, as always, we consider you more than friends: you are family.

Thank you, and keep tuning in!
