Rian Pelati was born in rural Groblersdal, South Africa, in 1970 and I am the youngest of 4 children.
As a young boy his dream was to become a writer, and sohe ended up studying journalism at Pretoria Technicon, as well as psychology. After his studies he started working as a journalist, photographer and deputy news-editor at several local newspapers, as well as a national daily paper.
Rian is also an author, poet, freelance writer and Asperger’s coach. Rian helps children with social and communication disabilities and guide teachers working with Asperger’s children.
Rian’s first Afrikaans anthology of poetry “Die Masker” was first published in 1997. The printed version is now followed some 17 years later by a revised digital edition available on leading online eBook stores, such as Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Google Books.
Rian is a former Mr Gay Pride SA, Mr Gay Gauteng and first runner up in Mr Gay SA and Mr Leather SA. He is also a well-known figure in the SA pagan community.
Rian likes to read, listen to music and is still a DJ for events and clubs in his free time.
Rian became part of the GaySA Radio family in 2016 on the show “Back to the 80’s” which was broadcast every Sunday. He has since becoem a more permanent fixture on “The Workday Jive” weekdays, between 9 amd 12.
Rian met the love of his life in 2014 and to this day he is a very happily married gay man.
