With 14 successful and very prestigious years of the Naledi Theatre Awards under their belt, the Naledi Team is hard at work to make the 15th Annual Naledi Theatre Awards the most memorable awards ceremony to date.
The 2019 Naledi Awards for productions produced in 2018 will take place on 20th May at the Joburg Theatre on the magnificent Mandela Stage. Dawn Lindberg, CEO of the Naledis and Director of the Awards event says the following about the 3 – year venue sponsor partnership with the Joburg Theatre:
“The size, versatility and technical infrastructure of the Mandela Stage at Joburg Theatre gives us the opportunity to really showcase the fantastic acts and abundant talent that we have seen throughout the 2018 voting season. Our very special thanks go to Alistair Kilby of Splitbeam for sponsoring all the state of the Art technical equipment required to sex up our staging and the annual spectacle that the Naledis have become.”
Dawn Lindberg will once again be directing the awards, assisted by Lihan Pretorius, with staging and choreography by Timothy Le Roux, Musical Direction by Wessel Odendaal, and adding to the grandeur of the event will be Josh Cutts of Visual Frontiers with his stunning lighting designs.
“As usual the entertainment at the Awards is one of the highlights, featuring productions from the year under review. This year we include numbers from Matilda, Sleeping Beauty, Hedwig and the Angry Inch, Woza Albert, Pops Mohamed, The Chorus Line, the Tribanghi dance company and The Color Purple. A host of celebrity presenters will add to the star studded event, led by hosts Sne Dladla and Bianca Le Grange.”
Obviously the highlight of the evening are the nominees themselves and the huge anticipation, excitement and prestige that comes with being a Naledi Nominee and a Naledi Winner. Chairperson of the Naledis Kgomotso Christopher stated,
“The talent and diversity showcased through the 2018 season was truly spectacular, and we are proud as an organization to be able to recognize the talent we have in this country”
We are very happy to welcome back into the fold Edith Venter and her wonderful team who will be handling the invitations and Event. This year guests will be sent their allocated seating before hand to streamline the registration process.
The Naledis will be shot for television by Clive Morris of CMP, now owned by Lala Tuku and Dom Gumede, and broadcast as a 90 minute spectacular on Kyknet and Mzansi Magic later in the year.
