The festive season is here, and if you’re going to be home over the holidays, why not catch up on some serious binge watching? There is some amazing queer content available to stream on Netflix – you’re spoiled for choice.

Here are some of our favourite picks:

1. Schitt’s Creek

This extremely well-written comedy series follows the day-to-day struggles of the Rose family after losing their vast fortune and being forced to move to the maybe-not-so-charming small town of Schitt’s Creek. The family faces many (hilarious) challenges, with pansexual David’s small-town love life off to a rocky start.

2. Sense8

Created by the Wachowski siblings, this mind-bending Sci-Fi series follows the lives of eight seemingly random individuals scattered across the world who start to feel and share a connection with each other. You will be drawn into the mystery and adventure, which will keep you guessing to the end. The series features same-sex couples and a transgender character, actually portrayed by a transgender actor.

3. Please Like Me

Created by and starring Josh Thomas, Please Like Me is an Australian dramedy that follows Josh as he navigates his twentysomethings. Honest, quirky and relatable, the show starts on the day Josh starts to realise/admit he is gay. Incidentally, this is the same day his girlfriend dumps him and his mother attempts suicide.

4. Bonding

Pete, a recently out gay man struggling to make ends meet in New York, decides to accept a job from his best friend in high school, Tiff. Tiff, a grad student, moonlights as a dominatrix and needs a bodyguard/assistant. The dark comedy follows them on their various encounters with Tiff’s clients and as they rebuild and redefine their friendship and themselves.

5. The Politician

Created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan, The Politician is a dramedy that chronicles the events surrounding a student body president election at a very elite high school. Payton Hobart is a very ambitious high schooler who plans on one day becoming the president of the United States – but first he needs to win the election for student body president. It’s a high-stakes situation – to what lengths will Payton go to achieve his ambitions?
