The South African Ballet Theatre Trust kicks off its 2020 fundraising efforts with a weave of nature and art you don’t want to miss.

Joburg Ballet will benefit from the funds raised at “Ballet, Bush and Birds”, which is to be held at the Country Club in Woodmead’s Pool Pavilion on Saturday, 15 February.

The event will take advantage of the beautiful 208 hectares of bush and grasslands at the Woodmead Country Club, and attendees will have the chance to experience the wide range of fauna and flora that can be found here. The programme commences with a walk through the park, accompanied by a bird expert, after which Joburg Ballet will perform a repertoire that ties in with the avian theme. Items will include extracts from some of the world’s most loved works, among them The Dying Swan, The Sleeping Beauty, The Firebird and Swan Lake.

A light hamburger and hotdog dinner will be served, together with an ice-cream treat for dessert, and guests are welcome to enjoy a drink at the Club, should they decide to give the bird-spotting walk a pass. Guests who wish to take a seat on the lawn next to the swimming pool are kindly requested to bring their own chairs.

“Ballet, Bush and Birds” is the perfect Valentine’s Day event for lovebirds and ballet lovers alike. Tickets are available at R500 per person, and there will be a cash bar. Dress comfortably casual (with good walking shoes if you’re planning to partake in the ornithological excursion). The walk starts at 15:00 and Joburg Ballet’s performance will start at 17:30.

Please RSVP with proof of payment to Biddy Faber (biddy.faber@hsf.com), and don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to enjoy and support the art of ballet.
